goodbye classroom

it's crazy to think that i've been teaching for four years, and now it's coming to an end. but i am so excited to finally have the occupation that i've really always wanted to be- a mommy!
in getting ready for our little baby, i have so much to do. another teacher is moving into my room, so i have to move all of my stuff out, get report card stuff done, and write potential subplans which take me multiple hours to write for just one day, let alone several days. so here is my classroom one last time before i started the demolition process with my husbands help. goodbye classroom! goodbye my second home!

maui take two!

back in march we got to go to maui again! a second time to our honeymoon spot in less than a year! Michael's immediate family all went, and we are so lucky that we got to go too! thanks Brad and Mari-Lynn! due to my largeness in pregnancy, i wasn't very eagar in taking pictures of myself, and most of the time we forgot the camera in our room. it was wonderful though, from laying out by the pool and relaxing, drinking smoothies, and going whale watching. Michael also loved going on the zip lines and playing golf- which has become one of his number one activities to do during his month long break between school and his internship.

projects

for some reason lately, i have been wanting to get all these projects done around our apartment. perhaps it is because i now have all this energy that i did not have early due to first trimester pregnancy. perhaps it is because i'm realizing that after i have the baby i'm going to be home a whole lot more so i want a nicer place to live in. perhaps it's because i'm tired of watching television at night and want more exciting things to do. perhaps it's because i enjoy artistic type projects! i'm thinking it's a combination of all the above.

this is me at 25 weeks by request. depending on how much i explode will depend on if there are more pictures to come or not :)

so one of the first projects I took upon was finishing a quilt from a family reunion. my little brother Neal won this quilt in a drawing, and my mom gave it to us. it had raw edges that weren't put together, so I made a nice hem for it and gave it a nice finish. yeah for sewing machines!




in our bedroom we have been using a red fleece blanket that was pinned up with tacks to cover our window. i had some curtains that i had for some odd reason, so i went to lowe's and got some curtain rods. my dear hubby put the rods up (it was quite the ordeal, we can't wait to have our own house so we actually know what's behind the wall). now our bedroom looks much more put together.


my ward had a talent swap some time ago, and one of them was sewing projects. we're using a pack n play for our little guy to sleep in his first year of life since our apartment is so small and we have so much stuff. one of the sewing projects was for a pack n play sheet cover. they average from $10-$20, but i made ours for a little under $3! yeah for trying to be domestic. here are the directions to make one.

next on the list: sewing the pillows on our couch so they stop sliding down, finish crocheting baby blanket, sewing pillows for our bedroom, sewing a baby carrier sling, sewing covers for our chairs, and painting a picture. yikes! that's a long list! i've got less then 3 months to get those all done. hope i don't get burnt out before hand!

oh boy!

this past week we had Marie's 20 week doctor's appointment. we got to see our cute little baby on the big screen, and soon learned that we're having a BOY! (in case you couldn't tell by the title). the technician made a dvd recording of the ultrasound for us, and it's so much fun to go back and watch our baby boy. some of our favorite parts of ultrasound were watching him kick and stretch out his adorable little legs, watching the sucking motion of his mouth, and seeing his itty bitty heart beating. you'll have to decide for yourself which of the following pictures was one of Michael's highlights :)

hence the cute chubby cheeks on my face in the previous post. sorry for those we haven't been able to contact to share our news yet, but here it is! we're currently 16 weeks along, and we get to find out the gender next month. yeah! we're so excited! post your vote for what gender you think it's going to be!

catching up

basically, my life is a catch-up game. i feel like i'm always trying to catch up, and blogging is just added to that list.
we're not the best at taking pictures, so that doesn't help with our blogging, they're nice because there worth 1,000 words, so then i don't have to write as much:)
for thanksgiving we were lucky enough to see Mike's parents, and David & Eliza and family, in Park City before heading to nice, warm, sunny California. We got to enjoy a nice pancake breakfast with them (and Lindsey, Josh and Ella) and then headed on a plane to the weather i miss! it was fun being with my parents and Neal. we went and saw The Blind Side, which we loved!! highly recommend that movie. it was great, clean, and left you feeling good inside. not many movies fit that any more. we also got to help cook thanksgiving. Mike's highlight was the fact that my mom didn't let a single meal go by without being delicious, not even breakfast.
last weekend my cousin Kari got us tickets to go to the Christmas devotional. it was wonderful! the choir and the orchestra sounded phenomenal, and of course the talks were touching as always. i really liked the story about the business man who gave up his plane ticket to a young boy who wanted to see his family for the last time before being shipped off to war.

now i'll let Mike tell about his exciting life.....
Some people think intramural soccer is a matter of life or death, I think that's silly... it's much more important than that.
So this past week we played in the intramural soccer championship. The tournament is double elimination and we had to beat the team twice. Last Tuesday we played them and came away with a 6-1 victory. Then the very next night we played them again to win it all and we won 3-1. It was another amazing year and I love playing with team. We've won the league two years in a row and thanks to the fact that most of our team is either in graduate school or just taking 5 years to get their undergraduate degree we should have another run at it next year. it's been awhile

So we haven't been the best at posting lately. Probably because we've been so busy doing stuff!
Labor day weekend we headed down to California to spend some time with my parents and Neal. Mike hadn't been to L.A. before, so we spent a day and drove around and checked out the place. We must've gone at the perfect time, because there was the least amount of traffic I have ever seen in the city. Thanks Mom and Dad for letting us visit!




The next weekend Michelle and her friend Jon came to town to bike the most amazing/insane/crazy/fulfilling race ever. They participated in the Latoja, which is a 206 mile race from Logan to Jackson Hole. Since it was such a long race, they needed a support crew to meet them at certain stopping points and provide food for them. They did such a great job and were so dedicated in completing the race! We're so proud of you!




The following weekend Mike participated in a race of his own. He biked the Moab Century = 100 miles! What is the deal with all these crazy people riding their bikes so far?! Mike had a wonderful time seeing the beautiful sights while on his ride. At one point he could here tribal drums helping him keep his momentum while climbing a steep hill, and when he got to the top, the drummers were there! How fun! He did such a great job. I'm proud of you hun!
